Google has released Chrome version 98.0.4758.102 for Windows, Mac and Linux to fix a high-severity zero-day vulnerability.
“Google is aware of an exploit for CVE-2022-0609,” it said in a security advisory released today.
Google has stated that the Chrome update will be rolled out in the coming weeks automatically. However, it is possible to install the update immediately manually by simply going into the Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome.
Details of the undisclosed zero-day
The zero-day vulnerability fixed today, has been logged as CVE-2022-0609 and assigned a severity level of “High”.
This vulnerability was discovered by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group.
Although Google has detected attacks exploiting this vulnerability, it has not shared any additional information about these incidents or technical details about it.
“Access to details of the flaw and links, may remain restricted until most users are updated with a fix,” Google added. In addition, this Google Chrome update fixes seven “High” severity vulnerabilities.
